Monday Morning summary in English
Tom Sawyer hated Mondays. Because Monday means back to school. He felt really bad about it. After a fun Sunday vacation, going to school on Monday was not a fun time in his opinion.
To avoid school, Tom tried to fake his illness. He thought about pretending to have a stomach ache, but he was worried it wouldn’t work because the pain could go away quickly. Therefore, he was not sure whether his plan would succeed.
Tom noticed that one of his upper teeth was loose. He is perfect for avoiding school. But he hesitated because if he told her, his aunt might try to take it out and she might get hurt. So he kept the idea of his loose teeth on hold.
Undeterred, Tom focused on another plan. He looked at his sore toe and thought that might be a good excuse. Now all he had to do was pretend his toe really hurt. Tom wanted to pretend to be sick, but he didn’t know how to pretend to be sick. Finally, he groaned and decided to pretend that his toe hurt. He tried to wake up his younger brother Sid, but Sid was sleeping too deeply. So Tom moaned even louder until Sid woke up. When Sid asked, “What’s wrong?” Tom kept moaning and looked like something serious was going on. Sid became worried and immediately went to inform his aunt.
English summary of Monday Morning
Sid told his aunt that Tom was really sick and might die. My aunt became worried and ran to Tom’s side. When she saw him, she got worried and asked what was wrong with him. Tom continued to carry his gun, claiming he was embarrassed by the pain in his toe. His aunt was relieved when she realized he was making something up and begged him to stop the nonsense.
As soon as she threatened him, Tom stopped moaning and the pain in his toe magically disappeared. Now he decides to use a backup plan: toothache. Confused, his aunt asked him what happened to his teeth.
Tom was asked to open his mouth so that his aunt could check on him and possibly extract the loose tooth. Realizing that this would hurt him, Tom quickly changed his mind. He told his aunt not to touch his teeth and to go to his school.
However, his aunt brought dental instruments into his room. So she loosened Tom’s tooth further and then pulled it out. She then told him that his tooth had fallen out and he should still go to school. She warned him not to scare him like that again.
