Reading passage with answer

Read the following passage and answer the questions that follow: 1×4=4 (2×2)

There is an interesting story about what happened in Rashtrapathi Bhavan when Mr. C. Rajagopalachari, popularly known as Rajaji, was the last Governor General after the British handed over power. One of his ADC’s (Aides-de-Camp) forgot to shave that morning and joined Rajaji at breakfast. Rajaji, who led a dry sense of humour, decided to teach the young man a lesson in a rather amusing way.

I am sorry you are not well this morning’, he said to the young ADC, you look very sick., you must see a doctor immediately. I suggest you skip breakfast today.’ Thus dismissed, the young man went to his room and stood in front of mirror to find out what was wrong with him. He then realised he had not shaved that morning. At lunch time, when appeared after a shave, Rajaji said: “I am glad to see you looking so much better. The doctor’s medicine has already started working.”

Questions

a) Why did Rajaji advise the ADC to see the doctor?

Answer: When one of Rajaji’s ADC’s joined him at the breakfast table, he noticed that the young man hadn’t shaved. So Rajaji decided to teach him a lesson in a rather amusing way. He told the ADC that he was sorry to see that he was very sick that morning. Then he asked him to skip his breakfast and go see a doctor.

b) What was wrong with the young ADC?

Answer: One of Rajaji’s ADCs forgot to shave one morning and joined him at breakfast. Rajaji said that he looked very sick and he should immediately see a doctor. Immediately the ADC went in his room and stood in front of a mirror to find out what was wrong with him. It was then he realized that he had not shaved that morning. He then shaved and went a lunch-time. Rajaji said that he looked much better. In this way Rajaji taught a lesson of ‘discipline’ to his young ADC.

Introduction:

Water is free gift of nature. It’s essential to all living beings. It covers around 70% of the earth. Now a day water is being polluted. Man is the main reason for it.

Causes of water pollution:

1. Urbanization and industrialization are the main reasons for pollution.

2. Use of chemicals and fertilizers to grow crops.

3. Industries and factories letting out waste chemical water into rivers.

4. Soil pollution and deforestation.

Effects of water pollution:

1. Use of polluted water may cause serious diseases.

2. It effects mainly on our health.

3. It may cause Calera, Typhoid and other serious diseases.

4. It also effects on birds, animals, sea animals.

Conclusion:

We know that we are the main cause of pollution. It is important to control the water pollution. Without water we can’t survive. So it’s our responsibility to keep water clean and make our earth healthy for living.
