In this post we have posted simple present tense rules and formula. The Present Simple tense is the most basic tense in English and uses the base form of the verb (except for the verb be).

Simple present tense for competitive exams
Uses of simple present tense:
1. We use the simple present tense when an action is happening right now.
2. To express habits, general truths, repeated actions, for instructions or directions andfor fixed arrangements. Examples:
1. For habits
Pavan drinks tea at breakfast.
She only eats nonveg.
They watch television regularly.
Sheetal drinks milk every night before going to bed.
2. For repeated actions or events
We catch the bus every morning.
It rains every afternoon in the hot season.
They drive to Monaco every summer.
I visit temples every morning.
3. For general truths
Water freezes at zero degrees.
The Earth revolves around the Sun.
Her mother is Sujata.
Blood colour is red.
4. For instructions or directions
Open the packet and pour the contents into hot water.
You take the No.8 bus to Hassan and then the No.10 to Mysore.
Go to left and take left turn.
Open the book at page no. 45 to read a passage.
5. For fixed arrangements
His mother arrives tomorrow.
Our holiday starts on the 26th March.
We meet our Boss in October 23.
Our school starts from June 1st.

(In assertive sentence) Subject + Main verb (V 1) + Object.

Subject + Helping verb (do/does) + not + Main verb (V 1) + Object.
