Although all have to do with sight, there’s a difference between “see,” “look,” and “watch.”
1. Look – to look at something for a reason, with an intention.
(When we look, we try to see. We make a special effort. We concentrate our eyes on something.)
‘Look at that strange man.’
‘Look at the pictures I took on holiday.’
Look at the rain. It’s so heavy.
Look! It’s snowing!
Look at this photo! Isn’t it beautiful?
I’m looking but I don’t see it.
The boy is looking at the cake.
Look at the guy walking on the rope.
2. See – to ‘see’ something that comes into our sight that we weren’t looking for.
(We use see to mean simply that an image comes into our eyes. It may not be deliberate. As soon as we open our eyes, we see things.)
I can see a cloud in the sky.
I suddenly saw a bird fly in front of me.
Didn’t you see Ram? He was waving at you.
‘Did you see that bird? – I wasn’t looking for it, it just appeared.
‘I saw you driving to work today.’
Did you see Trisha at the game last night?
I see some people dancing on the street.

3. Watch – to look at something carefully, usually at something which is moving.
(With the verb watch, we are much more active. Watch is like look, but requires more effort from us. We watch things that are going to move or change in some way. And we watch the movements and changes.)
‘Watch TV’- the TV doesn’t move, but you watch the moving images carefully.
‘Watch here you are going! You almost stepped on my foot!’
We watch television every evening.
I like watching motor racing on TV.
If you watch that egg for long enough you’ll see it hatch.
The police decided to watch the suspected murderer.
Everyone was watching your performance.
I was watching a video when you called.
