Answer the followings in 2 or 3 sentence each.

1)Why had the students been marching? How was it an unusual march?  (SSLC Exam: 8.4.2015, 6.4.2016, 1.04.2020)

Ans: The students were marching to protest against the British rule, and to give notice to the collector. It was unusual march. Because they marched silently and there were no slogans and no shouts.

2) Babu and Manju were a bit disappointed with the way students were marching. What was the reason? (26.06.2018, 28.03.2018)

Ans: The students marched back to their homes silently. Manju and Babu thought that there may be violence and police will beat them. According to them the students should have protested.

3) What had the police expected about the way of protest? How did the student’s leader manage the protest? (April 2015, 5.4.2017)

Ans: The police had expected that the students would protest and be violent. They then would have to beat them up and put them in jail. The student leaders managed the protest very peacefully and since they did not want to go to jail.

4) What was there in the ‘mysterious parcel’? What suspicious did the police have about that?   (Preparatory exam 2020)

Ans: The mysterious parcel was a ‘cyclostyling’ machine. The police had suspected that ‘cyclostyling’ machine was used by protestors to make copies of Gandhji’s speech and distribute it among protestors.

5) Why did Patil, the sub-inspector come to Mohan’s house? Who believed him? (18.6.2015, 2016, 20.06.2017)

Ans: Patil, the sub- inspector came to Mohan’s house to give a warning about British officer’s raid and to ask cyclostyle machine. He wanted to help teacher’s family. Mohan’s mother believed him.

6) How do you know that Mohan’s mother was supportive of their struggle? (Series exam 2019)

Ans: When Suman and their friend brought the cyclostyle machine, she asked them to keep it in the Puja room. When the sub Inspector came in initially, she acted as if everything was normal and nothing revolutionary took place at their home.

7) What do you think is the writer of the incident trying to impress upon the readers?  (Preparatory exam 2018)

Ans: People wanted to fight against the British and get freedom. Some Indians were working for the British but they were waiting for them to quit India. These people helped the freedom fighters secretly.

8) Can you guess what the police officer had been talking to the student leaders? (Preparatory exam 2016)

Ans: The students met the D.S.P and one of them handed him a piece of paper. The Police Officer didn’t even glance at it. This shows that he might have advised them to go back. He might have told them to stop their agitation.

9) What can we learn from the lesson “Narayanpur Incident” ? (SSLC Exam: 24. 09. 2020)

Ans: We learn patriotism and sacrifice values. It also helps to cultivate presence of mind, dedication, organization skills, respect for our country and freedom fighters.

10) How does inspector Patil help Mohan and his family ? (Series exam 2015)

Ans: Patil, the sub- inspector came to Mohan’s house to give a warning about British officer’s raid and to ask cyclostyle machine. He wanted to help teacher’s family. So he took away that machine.
