ಕವಿಯ ಅಜ್ಜಿ ಆರು ವರ್ಷದವಳಿದ್ದಾಗ ಮರಗಳನ್ನು ಏರಲು ಇಷ್ಟಪಟ್ಟರು. ಮರವನ್ನು ಏರುವುದು ಹೇಗೆ ಎಂದು ಅವಳ ಸಹೋದರ ಅವಳಿಗೆ ಕಲಿಸಿದ್ದ. ತನ್ನ ವೃದ್ಧಾಪ್ಯದಲ್ಲೂ ಅವಳು ಮರಗಳನ್ನು ಏರಲು ಇಷ್ಟಪಟ್ಟರು. ಆದರೆ ಅವಳು ನಗುತ್ತಾ ತೋಟದಲ್ಲಿ ಮರಗಳನ್ನು ಏರುತ್ತಾಳೆ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು.
ಒಂದು ದಿನ ಅವಳು ಮರ ಹತ್ತಿದಳು ಮತ್ತು ಕೆಳಗೆ ಬರಲು ಸಾಧ್ಯವಾಗಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಆಕೆಯನ್ನು ಬಹಳ ಕಷ್ಟದಿಂದ ರಕ್ಷಿಸಲಾಯಿತು. ವೈದ್ಯರು ಒಂದು ವಾರ ಹಾಸಿಗೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಇರಬೇಕೆಂದು ಕಟ್ಟುನಿಟ್ಟಾಗಿ ಸಲಹೆ ನೀಡಿದರು. ಆ ಕ್ಷಣ ಅವಳು ಬಲಶಾಲಿ ಎಂದು ಭಾವಿಸಿ ಮರದ ಮೇಲ್ಭಾಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಮನೆ ಬೇಡಿಕೊಂಡಳು. ಅವಳು ಅದನ್ನು ಪಡೆದುಕೊಂಡಳು ಮತ್ತು ಮರದ ಮೇಲೆ ತನ್ನ ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ರಾಣಿಯಂತೆ ವಾಸಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದಳು.
The poet’s grandmother loved to climb trees while she was six. Her brother had taught her how to climb a tree. Even at her old age, she used climb trees. But she would laugh and say that she would climb trees in the garden.
One day she climbed a tree and could not come down. She was rescued with great difficulty. The doctors strictly advised her to stay in bed for a week. The moment she felt stronger and demanded a house on a tree top. She got it and lived like a queen in her house on the tree.
