Q.IV 11)
The children in the poor house never had enough to eat or drink. They were always hungry. One of the bigger boys announced that he would eat the boy who slept next to him if he was not given an extra bowl of gruel. The smaller boys were afraid. They held a council and decided that Oliver would go and ask the master for more gruel that night.
Q.V 12)
Yes, there is a vast difference between the two. Mother wants her child to be kind to the snail. She does not want the snail to get crushed under someone’s foot. She behaves well here. But, she had not shown the same kind of concern to other animals and had killed mice, birds, and kitten without any pity. She had even ill-treated her own relatives. She does not practise what she preaches.
