Ruskin Bond calls his grandmother a genius because she could climb any tree with ease, even at the age of 62. Despite warnings from neighbours and friends, she refused to give up her beloved hobby. One day, she climbed a tree but couldn’t get down, and after being rescued, the doctor ordered a week of bed rest – which she found unbearable. Once she recovered, she demanded a tree house so she could live among the branches. Her dutiful son fulfilled her wish, building her a home in a tree so she could continue enjoying what she loved most. Her passion, courage, and determination to live life on her own terms made her a genius in the poet’s eyes.
